Parvez is a multidisciplinary practitioner of arts. He explores identity labels, presence, reality and the status quo through his practice. He experiments with form and creates layered narratives often grounded in abstraction. His works are mostly experiential in nature.
He engages with video, photography, sound, Installations and performances but does not limit himself merely to these. The use of other media and techniques is also evident in his practice. His work stems from the routine encounters with the surroundings, the social conditions and the situations that he finds along the journey of life.
Parvez studied Medicine and got interested in Psychiatry upon graduating from a Medical school in India in 1990.
He then worked at the Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi and later, at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, Delhi. These experiences played a major role in his move towards media. In 1995, he left the hospital to pursue filmmaking; learning the craft on the job. Over the years he has evolved a style of his own to articulate his narratives.
Presently he lives and work between Basel and Delhi.
